last weekend’s holiday bazaar…

we stayed at the studio on friday night before our show until about 4:30 am, and we all said we’d like to leave by 2 at the latest.

but the next morning we posed for this enthusiastic self-portrait and i think we look pretty good…

i was still assembling earrings and they looked really good on the screen printed table top:

the next morning we woke up to snow in our hometown, something that has not happened for us for years!  it was so pretty…this is right around the corner from my house…my neighborhood looked so festive and happy:

it’s good to be here.

starting the biz…

in the midst of all the holiday shows, late nights at the studio, and general mayhem (lately this includes snowstorms and really low temps for portland standards, which makes our studio almost unbearable) we’ve been accomplishing some logistical tasks to start up the crosbie just right: banking, accounting, phone service, things of that nature.

this is the crosbie office phone:

moshi moshi

moshi moshi

it lives in darra’s desk drawer.  richard antczak II kindly donated it to the biz.  he may not be aware of this.  anyway, the other day this conversation occured at the studio, loosely centered on finances, as about 75% of our conversations are:

richard: (muttering slightly) we got the phone bill today.

darra: (overly excited, and emerging from around the corner, yelling, gesturing) WE GOT A PHONE CALL TODAY?

richard: no. we got the phone BILL today.

sari: laughing hysterically.

it was truly priceless.  is it normal to get the phone bill before you get a legitimate phone call when starting a business?

OUR NEW ITEM: CUSTOM PET PILLOWS!

these pillows are for you, not your pet. we were inspired by our friends’ and parents’ obsessive unconditional love for their pets. after numerous parties/dinners/gatherings where the topic of conversation focused on pets for large lengths of time, we decided this was a pretty good idea…you send us a photo, we print it on a lovely, sophisticated linen accent pillow, in addition to one of our unique patterns.

get your own right here.

hosting our first craft show

this past saturday we held our first craft show at our studio space in north portland…and thanks to sari’s amazing PR and marketing skills the turn out was fantastic…thank you to all of the vendors that took the time to set up their wares and weather the cold with us, and to all of our friends who came out and supported what we do…it was a huge success.

we had hot cider, wine, cheese and homemade cookies to nosh on and plenty of great conversation.

we're all set up

fabric WORLD

actually…it’s called fabric depot.

sari and i took a trip out to fabric depot here in PDX the other day to pick up some miscellaneous materials. the store has a place in our heart because it’s where we used to order our fabric from when we lived on the east coast. so to actually be there, in the place where they used to cut yards and yards of fabric from bolts and pack it up and ship it to us down in savannah, was just heart stopping.
this place is a treasure…..add it to the many reasons portland is UTOPIA.

*update* um, darra, you forgot the craziest part of this entire experience: for some reason at fabric depot they sell tons of strange dutch candies and snacks.  i bought these weird salty black licorice coins that were the texture of rawhide.  mmmm. terrific!
